長泉寺は
中山道の宿場町として栄えた
長野県塩尻市奈良井にある
曹洞宗の寺院です
南北朝時代の貞治5年に創建され
以降、奈良井とともに
歴史を刻んできました
Chosenji is a temple of the Soto sect located
in Narai, Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, which prospered as a post town on Nakasendo.
Since it was founded in the 5th year of Joji during the Nanbokucho period,
it has carved history with Narai.
当寺は南北朝時代の貞治5(1366)年、元章希本(げんしょうきほん)和尚よって創建されたと言われています。古くは「済高寺(せいごじ)」と称し、その後、曹洞宗「長泉寺」となりました。
It is said that this temple was built in 1366 during the Nanbokucho period by Gensho Kihon Osho. In ancient times, it was called "Seigoji" and later became the Soto sect "Chosenji".
本堂に入ると、天井に描かれた荘厳な龍が訪れる人を見守ります。明治期の飛騨の匠が手がけた天井絵の大きさは長さ20m、幅3.5m。仏法護持の神将であり、修行僧を守護するといわれています。
When you enter the main hall, the majestic dragon drawn on the ceiling watches over the visitors. The size of the ceiling painting by Hida Takumi in the Meiji era is 20m long and 3.5m wide. He is a Buddhist priest and is said to protect monks.
A tea pot in the Edo period sung in the nursery rhyme "Zuizu Izukurobashi". Chosenji Temple was once the lodging place for the prestigious procession. The tea jars of that time still exist in the temple, which tells the history.
長泉寺の中興開基である信吉は、武蔵の国の豪族から武将となった人物です。戦国の世の習いで主君を北条家、武田家、上杉家、徳川家と変え、最後は大阪夏の陣の後、長泉寺で亡くなりました。
Nobuyoshi, the founder of Chosenji Temple, is a person who became a military commander from a powerful family in Musashi Province. According to the tradition of the Warring States period, the monarch was changed to the Hojo family, Takeda family, Uesugi family, and Tokugawa family, and finally died at Chosenji Temple after the summer camp in Osaka.
寺の境内で静かに佇む延命地蔵大菩薩は、江戸時代の名工、高遠石工の守屋貞治が手がけた作品です。誰もが目を奪われる端正な風格は、木曽谷随一の美しいお姿と言われ、今なお多くの人を魅了し続けています。
The Enmei Jizo Daibosatsu, which stands quietly in the temple grounds, is a work by Sadaharu Moriya, a master craftsman of the Edo period. The neat personality that catches everyone's eyes is said to be the most beautiful figure in Kiso Valley, and it continues to fascinate many people.
